There is a far deeper problem than atheism infecting the church. Alisa Childers, a Christian singer with ZOEgirl, almost got infected herself. She was challenged to renounce the true gospel and adopt another gospel—that of progressive Christianity. She joins Frank to tell her story and discuss her fabulous new book “Another Gospel,” which is part autobiographical and part apologetics.

Among the issues they cover:

  • How did your pastor try to convert away from the true Gospel?
  • What is progressive and Christian about progressive Christianity?
  • What are the basic beliefs of progressive Christianity?
  • What the signs of a person or church-going in that direction?
  • Why do people become progressive Christians?
  • How is progressive Christianity more intolerant than true Christianity?
  • What are its racist and Marxist roots?
  • What evidence do we have that the early Christians were conservative, not progressive?
  • How do you reach out to those who consider themselves progressive Christians?

Get the book! Here’s Frank’s endorsement: “I love this book! Alisa Childers takes you on a captivating journey from her unreflective conservative Christian faith to the cliff of another gospel and then back home to the true Jesus. Along the way, she deconstructs progressive Christianity with wit, insight, and easy-to-remember evidence. Another Gospel? will inoculate you from a temptation far more seductive than atheism. And it’s an enjoyable read too!”

Evangelicals today are deeply divided over Donald Trump. Some see him as a savior figure, anointed by God to protect the church and make America great again. Others see him more like the antichrist, doing great harm to the nation and bringing embarrassment to the church.  Who’s right?  Might they both have good points?  What should we do to move forward?

Dr. Michael Brown, author of Evangelicals at the Crossroads: Will We Pass the Trump Test?  joins Frank as the 2020 election approaches.  Among the questions they address are:

  • Evangelicals have been known as the “values voters” who are always proclaiming, “Character counts! Morality matters!” Have we been hypocritical in our support of Trump?
  • Are Christians losing their ability to witness if they support Trump for president?
  • During the 2016 primaries, you strongly opposed Trump before voting for him vs. Hillary. What changed your mind, and why do you plan to vote for Trump in 2020?
  • Should we be voting more for personality or policy?
  • Jesus scolded the politicians of his day for “neglecting the more important matters of the law” (Mt. 23:23). What are the most important matters of the law upon which we should base our vote in this election?
  • How do the two parties differ on the most important policies?
  • What do you say to pro-lifers who say that health care and poverty and climate change are pro-life issues and they outweigh abortion?
  • You state that “Jesus is my Savior, Trump is my president.” Why is that distinction so important?
  • What should Christians be doing in this election season regardless of who ultimately wins the presidency?

On August 1, 2007, Pastor John Mark Caton of Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, Texas, got a phone call from his brother.  It was his last call.  His brother took his life the next day.  Dr. Caton joins Frank to discuss this very difficult topic.  They address these among other questions:

  • What can we do to prevent suicide?
  • How should parents talk to their kids about it? (Suicide is now the second leading cause of death among young people.)
  • Why is isolation such a problem?
  • How does social media contribute to the problem?
  • What does the Bible say about suicide?
  • Can a person who commits suicide go to Heaven?
  • How can we minister to those who are left behind?

Passages in the Old Testament mention buying “slaves” or servants.  One even states “If a man sells his daughter as a female slave (Ex. 21:7) ….”  What?  Buying and selling slaves?  Selling your daughter?  This is crazy and obviously immoral!   But are we understanding the passages correctly?  Are people really considered property in the OT?   Was “slavery” in the OT the kind of institution we had in America up to the Civil War?   No.  Dr. Paul Copan, author of Is God a Moral Monster? joins Frank and sets the record straight.  They cover many of the objections that skeptics raise in Frank’s answer to the slavery question in this short video from the University of Nebraska.

There is an argument for God that works even if the universe is eternal, even if macroevolution is true, even if a person believes that science is the supreme source of knowledge. It’s an argument that is as old as Aristotle, yet few talk about it today. Tricia Scribner, co-editor of the new book, Answering the Music Man, joins Frank for a fascinating discussion that unpacks this ancient argument in modern terms. Frank and Tricia show that science wouldn’t even work unless the premises of this argument were true.

Does Abortion Trump Everything Else?

Have you heard people say that you’re just a one-issue voter? You’re pro-life on abortion but you need to be pro-life until natural death.  You need a more biblically balanced view and address other issues that are just as important, such as racism, poverty, and healthcare.  Dr. Ron Sider, a politically liberal evangelical, makes that case in a new blog.

Frank responds that equating all those issues makes four major mistakes, including ignoring the teaching of Jesus.  This is an important show as we enter the home stretch of the election season.

Are you skeptical that anyone could present fresh insights about Jesus after two thousand years?  Tom Gilson has done just that in his new book, Too Good to Be False: How Jesus’ Incomparable Character Reveals His Reality.  Tom does this by highlighting what Jesus didn’t say and do, which is almost as shocking as what Jesus did say and do. Tom joins Frank and reveals these new insights about Jesus.  He also helps you realize how feeble the arguments against the biblical Jesus are.

Frank shares a passionate reaction to the death of Mike Adams and then tackles the COVID situation, including the idea that churches and schools should reopen. If you can only school remotely, Frank recommends the online classes at CrossExamined.org he’s teaching this Fall.

Frank also gives robust answers to the following listener questions:

  • Why did God allow Adam and Eve to be tempted when He knew what would happen?
  • What about those that have never heard about Jesus?
  • What about those who think they are good people and don’t need forgiveness?

Our friend Dr. Mike Adams has died.  He was a UNC Wilmington Criminology Professor, a Summit Professor, a columnist, and author, a Free Speech and Pro-life Warrior, a fellow instructor with Frank and J. Warner Wallace on our Fearless Faith seminar, and most importantly, a born again Christian.   Authorities are ruling it a suicide.  Is that really what happened, and if so, why?

Frank has some answers as he honors a man of love and courage whom many misunderstood and vilified. Beware: this tribute is direct and raw.

“If men were angels, no government would be necessary,” said James Madison, Father of the U.S. Constitution.   Since our natures are bent toward evil, someone must have the authority to protect innocent people from those who want to do evil.  God gave the government that authority.  Is it Christian to use force to restore the peace?

Frank invites former USAF Pararescue jumper (PJ), Jason Sweet, on the show to discuss how special forces training and combat operations provide parallels to the Christian life.  Jason, who now trains special forces candidates through socomathlete.com, shares his experience in PJ training and in combat in Afghanistan.  This is a fascinating show.
